The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Storm Lake Branch is sponsoring Tech Trek, a local, week-long camp to be hosted at Buena Vista University for 22 rising eighth-grade girls to explore science and math, July 17-23, 2016. Tech Trek is uniquely designed for girls to see first-hand how exciting careers in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields can be.  A longtime leader on issues related to women and girls in STEM, AAUW is particularly well-known for its 2010 research report, “Why So Few? Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics”. As part of its commitment to widening the pipeline for women in STEM, AAUW offered eleven pilot camps in summer 2015 and will offer a total of 21Tech Trek camps across the country in 2016.  Check us out on facebook.
